Monday morsel: a Celtic prayer

                                                                                                                                                                                                 freeimages.co.uk

As the rain hides the stars,
as the autumn mist hides the hills,
as the clouds veil the blue of the sky,
so the dark happenings of my lot
hide the shining of Your face from me.
Yet, if I may hold Your hand in the darkness,
it is enough, since I know that,
though I may stumble in my going,
 You do not fall.

  1. That's beautiful, Jeannie! It really touched my heart today, and I'm going to print it out and post it on my fridge (or somewhere else where I can see it). Where did you find it? Maureen

    1. Hi Maureen: I found it here: http://www.worldprayers.org/archive/prayers/celebrations/as_the_rain_hides_the_star.html
but I think I've seen it elsewhere, too. It is beautiful, isn't it? I'm glad it spoke to you; it certainly did to me.

  2. Holding his hand in the darkness? I feel like I don't have the strength to do the holding. I'm glad he holds me when I stumble, knowing that he does not fall.

    Blessings,
    Tim

    1. I know exactly what you mean, Tim. I'm grateful for that as well, because if it all depended on my holding on, I would be in trouble.

    1. Thanks, Adriana. (I wish I had a picture of my own to match this post that is as good as all the ones you took on your retreat!)

    3. My copy of Streams of Living Water arrived today! Unquiet Soul came a few days ago. Now I need a month long silent retreat to finish reading everything I have going plus these two! Also Malcolm Gladwell and Khaled Hosseini each have new books out that I'm panting over.

    4. I was just talking with some friends tonight about our ever growing to-read piles!!! But isn't it a great problem to have: too many books to read? :-) Yes, I'd like to read Hosseini's book, too; his other two were so good.
